When it comes to choosing your bike hire, New Forest offers lots of choice. That’s the good news – but it can also be sooo confusing if you’re new to cycling. What’s a hybrid? Do I want to go electric? Am I going off-road? Whichever Brockenhurst cycle hire company you use, they’ll all be able to advise you on which two-wheeled steed to go for.

If you’re taking to the off road trails through the woods, then a mountain bike is the perfect choice for you. Chunkier tyres and suspension will take you over the humps and bumps and through the mud. If it’s mostly tarmac surfaces, then go for a road bike; if it’s a combination of the two, choose a hybrid which is just that – the tyres have more grip than a road bike but aren’t quite as beefy as a mountain bike. Move into a ‘hire’ gear

So you’ve planned your route and what kind of bike you need. Now all you need to do is hire one! In the heart of Brockenhurst you’ll find Cyclexperience who have a wide range of bikes, while their app has plenty of suggested trails to choose from, all of which are right on their doorstep. If you’re heading out of Brockenhurst and want to start your ride in Beaulieu, then the fine folk at New Forest Activities can help. As well as those fantastic activities like archery and canoeing, they also hire bikes, available at half or full day rates. They also organise guided bike rides if you’d prefer someone else to do the navigating.

Over in Burley is Forest Leisure Cycling, which offers free parking (not very often you hear that!) and really competitive daily rates. What’s more, if you can’t get there in person, they’ll deliver your bikes to you (it must be a minimum of four bikes or, if less then four bikes, then a minimum two-day hire. Delivery is free within a five-mile radius of the Cycle Centre; helmets, locks, puncture kits and call out assistance are also included.

Whether it’s an electric hybrid, gravel bike or child’s bicycle, you’ll find them all at The Woods Cyclery in Lyndhurst – as well as useful accessories like children’s seats and Garmins. It’s great that prices include helmets, backpack, pump, lock, toolkit and a mobile mechanic backup.
