Retail therapy might not be top of everyone’s to-do list on a New Forest break, but it’s a nice break from exploring the great outdoors; whether you’re simply browsing, buying that essential item you forgot to pack, or simply buying a souvenir or thank-you gift, Fordingbridge shops pretty much have it covered.
The High Street is where you’ll find a lot of what you need, but head off down the side streets and beyond to discover some wonderful gems.
Happy shopping!
Fordingbridge Farm Shop is a wonderful family business with both a farm shop selling great local produce including bakery, grocery and butchery, as well as the Courtyard, which boasts a rather nice bar and restaurant.
Hockey’s Farm is another great farm shop to check out – the array of locally reared meats takes some beating, and they also sell all the condiments and accompaniments to go with them. It also has a lovely onsite cafe for that much-needed cappuccino.
If it’s treating yourself to a keepsake/souvenir or buying something for a neighbour who’s fed the cat while you’ve been away, there are some great gift shops in Fordingbridge New Forest: check out The Shop In The Courtyard, Allsorts Craft, Gifts and More, Alderbridge Artisans or the pottery studio at Created By You for a cornucopia of ideas.
Whether it’s an ice cream treat or buying some local produce to enjoy at home, Fordingbridge shops have plenty to offer along the High Street.
If it’s cakes and breads you’re after, make a beeline for Belinda’s bakery and tea shop, which also does homemade pizzas, so they have all the (pizza) bases covered. For ice cream lovers, there’s Forest Edge Gelato which makes some amazing creations – you’ll be drooling just looking at the website alone. For a lunchtime treat, head for Verity’s Sandwich Shop on Bridge Street; or for your day-to-day needs, there’s The Gourmet Grocer, Vintage Wine & Port and D.Price Butchers.
Who doesn’t love a good toy shop? Whether you’re eight or 58, it’s great fun browsing (and maybe buying the odd treat too). Well, Fordingbridge has three: from Lego to Pokemon even Star Wars, there’s All The Cool Stuff, who have been doing their thing for 15 years; Galaxy Treasures on Salisbury Road is packed with toys, prints and collectibles; or head for the High Street and there’s also icons and idols for Posters Print Models & Toys, which neatly sums up what they do and sell…
Come on your New Forest break and forgot to pack an evening outfit? Don’t despair; Fordingbridge shops include a nice selection of clothes retailers – including Timothy’s (women’s fashion accessories and home accessories); family-run ladies clothes shop Jessica (which has been in business an incredible 36 years) and Luxury Bubble, which boasts clothes, beauty and its own cafe.
