Sustainable Hotels In The New Forest

Sustainable Hotels

While everyone wants their stay in a luxury hotel to feel indulgent and special, the issue of sustainability is becoming more important to us all.

More of us are choosing to holiday in our home countries rather than travel abroad, opting for a luxurious staycation that has minimal environmental impact, whilst not skimping on style.

Luxury eco-friendly accommodation in the New Forest

The teams at the New Forest Collection hotels have always been aware of their responsibility as custodians of some remarkable places, each located within an area that is admired across the world for its beauty and diversity.

These are outstanding venues that are mindful of their environmental and ethical footprint, actively putting measures in place that have a positive effect on the New Forest wildlife, its green spaces and the wider community.

The best sustainable places to stay in the New Forest

From recycling and wildlife conservation measures, to championing local produce and suppliers, to high-tech new energy solutions, their impressive eco-credentials mean that these stunning hotels are known to be some of the very best sustainable places to stay in the New Forest.

Of course, the New Forest Collection hotels are renowned for their breathtaking grounds and gardens, home to a wide variety of well-tended plants, flowers and shrubs, as well as a vast array of wildlife. Bird boxes, beehives and several Lawns to Meadows initiatives mean that green spaces surrounding these incredible venues are glorious for you to enjoy today, and will be happy places for generations to come.

From the moment you arrive at your chosen eco-hotel, EV charging points are available across the board. Then, step inside for a warm welcome, and if you’ve been for a muddy forest walk, no matter – simply wipe your wellies on the doormat. You’d never have known that it was made from recycled fishing nets, but you do now!

Eco-friendly family hotels

If you’re an eco-conscious family, there are always generously-proportioned rooms and suites available in all the New Forest Collection hotels, with room for everyone to stretch out, and either a fold-away sofa-bunk or another pop-up bed or two if required.

Parent-friendly settings, fantastic children’s options, and choices to suit every dietary requirement are available in the restaurants too, and each hotel featured within the Collection is the proud member of the New Forest Marque, awarded to businesses that champion local produce and work with tradespeople and suppliers from the community.

This means that every menu within every exquisite restaurant features locally sourced and seasonal produce. Raise a glass too to celebrate the fact that throughout the New Forest Collection, both still and sparkling water comes in refillable glassware, and whilst surplus is kept to an absolute minimum, food waste is always carefully composted.

Love The Forest

Not that there’s likely to be anything left over after a delicious meal at The Drift, the laid-back and stylish country pub that’s a real favourite after a day out walking with the family (including those of the canine kind!). You’ll find The Drift right next door to the eco-friendly hotel, Beaulieu Inn.

Beaulieu is a former coaching inn, characterful and quirky, with elegantly modern interiors and a soothing atmosphere. Here you can truly relax, and because Beaulieu is set right in the middle of a wild, open heath, you’re bound to spot some of the friendly forest ponies that graze here. This gorgeous hotel is set within glorious countryside, with fresh, light interiors and comfortable rooms with forest views. There’s also plenty of space to explore in the garden, which like other hotels in the Collection, features trees planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

The New Forest Collection hotels make a donation on behalf of every guest to Love the Forest, a charity that funds reflective collars for the ponies to keep them safe, as well as supporting volunteers and distribution of the New Forest Code. In fact, the New Forest Collection is the number one donator, having raised more than £90,000 to date.

Sustainable country house hotels in the New Forest

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly country house that simply oozes historic charm, look no further than Grade II-listed Bartley Lodge. A real heritage gem, the hotel is set within eight acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, and inside, the stylish contemporary interiors and elegant bedrooms are a delight. Don’t forget to try some of the honey made by Bartley’s very own bees too!

Another wonderful sustainable country house hotel is Burley Manor, within its magnificent 800-year-old estate. Children over the age of 13 are welcome here, and the emphasis is very much on peace and tranquillity. Bedrooms are heavenly, each individually designed and spacious, with suites enjoying their own balconies and all rooms enjoying breathtaking views overlooking the estate gardens and neighbouring deer park. Burley also boasts indulgent spa facilities, encouraging you to completely let go and relax.

Good to know too that Burley, like all the New Forest Collection hotels, uses enzyme-based cleaning products and plant-based toiletries and has put linen and laundry reuse programmes in place to reduce energy consumption. Another reason to feel at ease!
