Apple Crumble and Forest Ramble

Autumn is an exciting time in the forest; a fresh breadth of life and a tranquil escape from summer’s business. It’s one of our favourite times of year because it welcomes a new host of activities and opportunities to explore our beautiful surrounding; there is something for everyone to enjoy. Take a look below to see some of our New Forest must do’s this autumn.
Seasonal sleepover
If you wish to extend your visit to the New Forest why not do so by staying in one of our five beautiful hotels. Flavours of the forest
To warm the soul and expand our connection to our surroundings, this autumn we have refreshed our menus, highlighting the very best of autumnal produce and farmed goods from locally sourced, New Forest Marque accredited suppliers and farmers. Our personal favourites are our hearty beef dishes and comforting apple crumbles.
Within our autumn tranquilitea expect gorgeously rich orange, chocolate and caramel flavours as well as more traditional pork and pickle pies and fig and apple savouries.

Wheels or walking boots
The New Forest’s autumnal beauty is a tranquil and peaceful experience best digested through first hand encounters. We suggest exploring the vast array of walks and cycle routes promoted by New Forest NPA, such as The Walking Festival, to truly enhance your visit and share the secrets of the forest.
Or if it is something more personal that catches your eye, why not attend Neil Ansell’s Meet the Author event for an afternoon of forest wanderings and wellbeing on the 16th October at our Beaulieu Inn. An opportunity to explore your growing connection with nature and the nurturing of our environment.
Autumn adventures and fresh air tonic
Vibrant reds, deep oranges and popping pinks are just some of nature’s spectacular colours covering the New Forest during Autumn. Keep your eyes peeled for the pigs (yes pigs) roaming alongside the ponies who are starting to fluff up for the winter months. Also be sure to look beneath your feet for the fallen conkers from our Horse Chestnut Trees or heather showering the heathland.
Not forgetting the famous Bonfire night on the 5th November, which we couldn’t not scream about. Our neighbour Burley Park host the most spectacular Bonfire display in the forest. Located just opposite Burley Manor, why not book an evening meal or warming stay to be guaranteed the best view for the magical display.
