Whether it’s a short amble for beginners or something a little more challenging, there are plenty of options. Whichever you choose, you’ll find one of our great hotels nearby as a base – choose from the likes of Bartley Lodge or Forest Lodge as the starting point, and also where you can return and reward yourself with some wonderful food and drink. Don’t forget, there’s also The Drift, our award-winning pub and restaurant – you’ll have definitely earned it!

Starting and ending in the centre of the village, this 1.5-mile walk is mainly on level ground, but with a single, gentle gradient.

Highlights to look out for include Beechen Lane, which dates back to 1759, and Pondhead Inclosure itself, which is known for its bluebell shows. Wildlife to spot include hawfinches, buzzards and several species of woodpecker.

Beaulieu Lake In The New Forest

Cadman’s Pool

A lovely 4-mile walk in one of the more peaceful areas of the New Forest. Cadman’s Pool, near Fritham and Stoney Cross, attracts a wide range of birdlife and is a fab picnic spot.

The walk starts from the Cadman’s Pool car park and takes you around the pond to Splash Bridge through the Holly Hatch Inclosure. Then follow Dockens Water back to the car park. It’s a charming stretch, with riverside willows and lovely bridges over the water. Watch out for deer, ponies and birds such as finches, firecrests, and woodlarks.
