Lyndhurst Shops

Shopping

Retail therapy may not be high on your list of things to do in the New Forest – after all, there are miles of unspoilt woodland, wild ponies, riverside walks and cycle routes to explore. But if the weather’s not being kind or you simply need to get something as a thank-you for the neighbour who’s been watering the plants or feeding the cat, the good news is that Lyndhurst shops are pretty fine.

Whether it’s gifts, groceries or gardening items, chances are you’ll find it here as you wander the streets of the ‘capital of the New Forest’…

Sofikas Shop in the New Forest

Whether it’s beautiful Italian linen or the softest cashmere, Goose Green Trading is the place to go; this women’s boutique is just one of the great clothes shops in Lyndhurst. For men and women, head to Sofikas – whether it’s footwear or accessories, White Stuff or Weird Fish, this high street shop has a varied range to suit lots of tastes. As well as gift items (more of which later), Motto is another good stop-off for clothing and shoes – as is Cotton Traders; casual but smart for men and women, this famous brand has a branch near Lyndhurst if you want to venture out a little.

If teddy bears and cuddly toys are your passion, however, then take a trip to Paws In The Forest – stockists of all manner of brands including Charlie Bears, Steiff, Merrythought, Kaycee, Hermann, Hardy Bears, Plush from Jellycat, Wild republic, Hansa and many more. Another popular gift shop in Lyndhurst is Onomatopoeia, which sells a selection of gift items and homeware such as lamps, plant pots, glasses and ornaments. Want to take a piece of the New Forest home with you, then pay a visit to Down To The Wood, which has been selling homemade wooden products for over 25 years to celebrate the trees that grow around them.

New Forest Butcher

Food, glorious food

At The New Forest Collection, we are big believers and supporters of seasonal, locally sourced produce – and many of these make great gifts for loved ones or simply a treat to take home yourself.

Lyndhurst is full of such places – from Tasty Pastries (freshly baked goods on the High Street) to sweet treats like hard boils, gummies, sugar free, liquorice, toffee, bon bons at Lyndhurst Sweet Shop. Chocoholics are not forgotten – head for Chocolatier Isabelle on the High Street – or if you prefer something colder, there are two great ice cream shops on the same road – Indulgence Ice Cream Parlour and Forest Glade Ice Cream. We’ll have a mint choc chip, if you’re asking…

Of course you may just need to stock up on groceries for picnic lunches or to take home with you; there’s Co-operative Food for most things, as well as New Forest Butcher – a great traditional shop selling everything from local meats and gourmet sausages to homemade scotch eggs and pies. They also sell fresh vegetables and cheese.
