The best places to stay near Bournemouth University

Our many idyllic hotels are a Godsend for parents visiting their (not so) little ones at university for a weekend catch up. All of our hotels are within close proximity of Bournemouth University, so travelling to and from the area is a breeze. We also understand that all important family time wouldn’t be complete without your furry companions and that’s why all of our hotels are dog-friendly in select rooms!

The accommodation closest to the university is our architecturally stunning Burley Manor just under half an hour’s away and is situated on an eight hundred year old estate encompassed by countryside and Burley Park, a red deer sanctuary. Parents should be warned that once you enter our luxurious Temple Spa and delight in our Mediterranean-inspired dishes, you may not want to leave (sorry kids). And let’s not forget about our Burley Huts, the ultimate cosy experience beneath the hushing trees and twinkling stars.

Just a little further up the road, you’ll find our tranquil Moorhill House, our little bed and breakfast gem. This Victorian country house, built in 1859, is home to the epitome of peace and quiet, perfect for unwinding with views of Mother Nature after a busy day. Why not take a stroll to the nearby Burley Village for a hot beverage and take in the historic surroundings, or perhaps simply kick back and relax in your very own full-length bathtub with your favourite book and bubbles galore.

A few minutes away from our bed and breakfast is our Bartley Lodge, our graceful Grade II eighteenth century country house and former home to the Victorian, ‘father of geology’, Charles Lyell. Nestled away at the end of our woodland drive, you can expect stylish interiors, twinkling chandeliers, bright and airy rooms and round-the-clock service. This elegant country house is the perfect location for some well deserved chill time at the end of the day.

Forest Lodge is just a 35 minute journey from Bournemouth University. The Georgian townhouse possesses urban-style interiors, a large indoor pool and award-winning 1820 restaurant, the perfect combination for a relaxing evening of unwinding. Whether you opt to rest your head in a Grand Deluxe or Extra Snug room, you’ll be greeted by calming decor and plush furnishings.

Our furthest (but in our humble opinion, the most incredible) hotel is Beaulieu Inn, a 40-minute car journey from the university. This former coaching inn is truly something out of a fairytale, with freely roaming ponies and donkeys grazing our lawns, open log fires blazing in cosy corners and woodland surrounding the grounds, it’s the perfect spot for a little bit of ‘you’ time – the kids will certainly be jealous!
