New Forest Shortbread

Throughout our Shop Small Saturday series, we have been blown away by the quality and sheer talent of our New Forest partners. It is their love and passion for our home which sees them deliver the finest New Forest Hospitality, not only to our neighbours but to those visiting too. Our next feature is no exception- introducing New Forest Shortbread.
Your one-stop shop for all things sweet, buttery, crumbly goodness, New Forest Shortbread is the master child of Tracy Thew. For many years Tracy would bake shortbread for her friends and family before deciding to offer a small bite of the New Forest to those exploring the area. Each shortbread is handmade in her Burley Rails Cottage, a 200-year-old woodman’s cottage in the quaint village of Burley, neighbouring our regal Burley Manor, making them the perfect bedtime snack or tea dunker.
Having grown up in Lancashire as a keen horse rider, Tracy would often visit the New Forest as a young girl. Yet it wasn’t until she moved to the area in 2011, she learned how special the forest truly is. With many tails and truths to share about her home, Tracy loves showcasing the very best of the New Forest to visitors from far and wide.
“Living in the heart of the forest is a real privilege, it is a working forest and there is always lots going on.”
As a proud member of the New Forest Marque and with a sustainably conscious outlook, all her shortbread is neatly packaged in a compostable and biodegradable box, helping protect our people, planet and ponies. Besides being the perfect adventure snack, they also make a great holiday gift as each box features an array of detailed illustrations and anecdotes of New Forest life from local artists. You can find New Forest Shortbread across our Collection, including a complimentary box in your room ready to welcome you to your stay as well as being available to purchase from reception. We have plenty of backups in case a second box is too good to resist. Or, alternatively, you can often find Tracy traveling throughout the New Forest attending different shops, markets and fayres promoting her shortbread. Enjoy best with a warm cup of tea, surrounded by fresh forest air and in the finest company. Is there anything so sweet?
If you would like to hear more about New Forest Shortbread, including tails of their cottage or perhaps sample some for yourself, be sure to sign up to their newsletter. We promise you won’t regret a thing.
