Up next in our shop small Saturday series are Hampshire Event DJ’s. The fastest growing DJ brand in Hampshire and the brainchild of Simon Clarke: Radio Presenter, Event DJ and Corporate Host. His radio background and passion for music has inspired the eleven strong team, all with extensive radio and nightclub backgrounds.
On average they play 250 weddings a year, including those with us at New Forest Collection and exclusive functions such as Qatar events at Goodwood Racetrack, Cowes Week on the Isle of Wight, and corporate evenings at Bombay Sapphire Distillery. Cheesy clichés are far from their go-to, with their passion for creating the perfect party playlist guaranteeing your guests remain dancing long into the night.

We caught up with Simon to pick his brain about all things music and what makes Hampshire Event DJs different.
Simon’s passion and enthusiasm for his brand was evident from the outset, expressing how distant Hampshire Event DJs are from the typical, dated wedding experience many DJs tend to cling to. After working closely and genuinely listening to their clients, they have discovered two key customer types. ‘Active’ know exactly what kind of music they want and ‘Passive,’ those who want a great party but don’t know where to start. Both groups have a very strong idea of what they don’t want from a DJ and his team will work with clients to help build a perfect party playlist!

He continued by emphasising no request is too big or small, especially with their live client portal which tracks the popularity of all songs, genres and musical trends. Simon explained you develop your strongest connections to music between the ages of 15 and 25, which is why he has seen an increase in demand for hip hop and alternative rock.
They often dive deep into the music archives, from Star Wars and country-inspired weddings to après ski parties, they have seen and heard it all! Simon recalled their far biggest challenge was compiling 50% classic rock and 50% Arabic pop, specifically from 2010.

It was great to catch up with Simon. His knowledge and presence within musical culture makes him a fountain of knowledge.
