Our top tips on staying connected to your team…

Remote working may be the new normal, but that doesn’t mean it has to be an end to collaboration, community and office socialising. We just have to reinvent how we engage with our team, even if it is from a distance. Whether it’s for team building or collaboration, here’s how we can all maintain a sense of community during these times:

Collaborate faster

Switching to video conferencing instead of conference calls can promote stronger engagement and bolster collaboration while working remotely. Try video-conference technology like Skype, GoToMeeting, Zoom, Google Hangouts or Microsoft Teams. Being able to see each other’s faces, facial expressions and body language can help personalise the conversation and recreates some of the benefits of in-person meetings. It’s always nice to see a familiar face too, right?

Socialise virtually

Office friendships are a huge part of social life, but they don’t have to be put on hold due to working remotely. For a continued sense of community, why not consider setting up a ‘virtual break room’ using one of the web conference tools mentioned above.

Stay active together

Whether you’re a pro at making health and fitness a priority or you’re just a beginner, staying active together can be fun, not to mention the benefits exercise can have to our mental and physical health. Try setting up a step challenge using apps like Stridekick or even a virtual yoga class for everyone – to improve posture, lower stress and focus minds. It’s a great way of introducing team building remotely, and for building a stronger, healthier team.
