You’d be forgiven for thinking Beaulieu is just an estate and motor museum, but it’s far more than that. There’s the picture-postcard village itself (after all, ‘beau lieu’ is French for ‘beautiful place’) and the likes of Buckler’s Hard is close by – a wonderful insight into the area’s maritime heritage.
It’s also a great starting point for exploring the wider New Forest, so one of the nearby New Forest Collection venues are an ideal base for your break – there’s Beaulieu Inn, of course, but there’s also the likes of Forest Lodge in Lyndhurst (just over a quarter of an hour away by car), and Bartley Lodge is only 22 minutes’ drive from the village.

Beaulieu Inn is just off the B3056, and is a mild walk away from the village itself, and of course has the wonderful Beaulieu Estate on its doorstep – including the Abbey and the amazing National Motor Museum.
Just off the A337 in the Pikes Hill area of Lyndhurst is where you’ll find Forest Lodge – just 20 minutes from Beaulieu. It’s at the very heart of the New Forest, so Southampton is only 20 minutes’ drive, and Bournemouth and its airport are only half an hour away.
Finally, if it’s Bartley Lodge you’re heading for (just five minutes down the road from Forest Lodge), it’s just minutes from the M27 and A31 – and if it’s a great family day out you’re after, both the National Motor Museum and Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World, are only 15 minutes away.
