Top 5 Easter Holiday Attractions in the New Forest
The Easter holidays are just around the corner and we are just as excited as you are! So much so, that we have put together our top five recommendations for the ultimate family fun this holiday, perfect for enjoying that all important quality family time.
Exbury Gardens: We are super excited that Exbury Garden’s has re-opened just in time for Easter after being closed throughout the winter months. With daffodils, camellias and heather already flowering across the gardens, it’s one of the best times of the year to join them. At Exbury Garden’s there is something to delight everyone, from the world-famous rhododendrons display, azaleas to riverside walks, the steam railway, tea rooms, kids play areas and art exhibitions. The little ones will love the play area, looking out for wildlife such as pheasants, squirrels, dragonflies and butterflies and finding exciting plants such as the Chinese Coffin Tree and even the Devil’s Walking Stick!
Beaulieu, National Motor Museum: Pick up your magnifying glass and put your detective skills to test this Easter! From Friday 30th March to Sunday 15th April Beaulieu are inviting all of their visitors to become nature detectives and explore the wonders of the natural world on their bird-themed Easter trail. Say hello to their very own nature detective as he drives around the grounds, join Lord Montagu’s cook in the Victorian Kitchen and help create bird shapes out of dough, see the amazing tree carvings, lookout for the woodlands fairies and even let the little ones enjoy having their face painted for free. Over Easter weekend you can even meet the Easter bunny himself and take part in their golden egg hunt! All of this fun can be hungry work, so when you’re feeling peckish, fly on over to the Brabazon Restaurant to tuck into seasonal Easter treats – Yum!
Marwell Zoo: Get closer to the wonders of the natural world with a visit to Marwell Zoo. A favourite for children and adults alike, Marwell Zoo is a 140 acre park home to hundreds of animals including giraffes, tigers and penguins. They also have a train to ride around the park, five adventure playgrounds, daily talks and animal feeds as well as cafés and a gift shop. Keep the whole family entertained and take part in their Giant Egg Trail for a chance to win four tickets to their sunset safari this summer. Step inside their cracked egg shell for your family #SHELFIE and lastly, meet Easter bunny himself in his homely burrow and you may just get a little chocolatey Easter treat!
The Drift Inn: At our very own sister pub set amongst the beautiful heathlands of Beaulieu, take part in all of their Easter Holiday fun. On April 4th from 12pm to 4pm, come and meet Mucky Bucket Farm’s miniature horse, donkey, fluffy alpacas, plus all four of their pygmy goats – You’ll even get the chance to hold adorable rabbits and watch as the ducks take a swim – It’s FREE entry too! But that’s not all, throughout the holidays take part in The Drift Inn’s Easter treasure trail to win chocolate prizes and if you join them for lunch or dinner the kids can enjoy a FREE ‘Easter Mess’ ice cream when they have one of our kids main meals – Hop-hop-hooray!
Longdown Activity Farm: What better way to celebrate Easter than at Longdown Dairy Farm surrounded by chicks and bunnies? Join in with the exciting Longdown Easter trail suitable for the whole family. Search for clutches of eggs in their special nests which are hidden around the farm. Children will receive a little yummy chocolate treat at the end of the trail. Also, for older children and adults, keep your eyes peeled for the very special golden eggs: ten will be hidden around the farm at the beginning of each day. They are very hard to find, so an ‘eggs-tra’ special chocolatey gift will be given to those who are fortunate to find one!
