New Forest Hotels Appoints Garry Baldwin as new Managing Director

Following six months as Head of Group Operations at New Forest Hotels, Garry Baldwin has now taken the role as Managing Director. Last year, Garry joined from the role of Senior Hotel Inspector at AA Hotel Services and will now take the managerial reins at New Forest Hotels following Michaela Lisle’s early retirement and new board position as non-executive Director after a dedicated 20 years with the collection, which includes four hotels – Bartley Lodge, Beaulieu Hotel, Forest Lodge and Moorhill House – Burley Manor, a restaurant and rooms and a country pub restaurant, the Drift Inn.

Mr Baldwin has over 10 years’ experience with the AA – including personally creating and developing the AA College Rosette Scheme – one of the highest accreditations in partnership with people 1st for college restaurants in the hospitality industry.  Baldwin’s previous operational experience includes a diverse selection of 5-star British names including, Cunard, Bovey Castle Hotel in Devon and Pennyhill Park in Surrey.

Furthermore, in the mission to continuously ensure the restaurants in the collection are providing the best culinary offerings, Executive Chef James Forman has been appointed as Chef Director to curate the most compelling dishes throughout all dining concepts. Classically British and French trained, James has previously spent 2 years at the prestigious Relais & Chateaux Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver and more recently at Holbrook House in Somerset and the contemporary kitchens of Cotswold House in Chipping Campden, where he was awarded a Michelin Rising Star and three AA Rosettes.

Chef Director, James Forman, commented, “It’s a very exciting time and I’m looking forward to heading up the kitchens throughout the collection, constantly looking at ways to improve and innovate to ensure we continue to build on our restaurants reputations for delivering freshly prepared, high-quality food and offering an excellent dining experience. I’ve always been passionate about chef development so I’m also really looking forward to taking our apprenticeship programme to the next level and developing our young chefs of the future.”

2019 is set to be a pivotal year for New Forest Hotels and in particular Burley Manor. Not only has it seen the exciting changes within the inhouse teams, but across the brands key pillars of gastronomy, accommodation and scenery, the team aim to enhance and bring in new concepts that will excite guests and the local community.
