As a nation we are becoming more aware of our carbon footprint and just how far our food travels before it reaches our plates. Buying local food not only tastes better but because it is fresher it is healthier for us. Not to mention the support this gives to local farm families, our community and the preservation of open space and farm land that so many of us enjoy and appreciate.
Local farmers and producers, who are part of the New Forest Marque, are keen to promote their produce to local businesses and the wider public too so people are aware of what is available to them and to encourage everyone to buy locally. Not only does this help support the farmers/producers but it cuts food miles and with more of us buying the products we will all benefit from the reduced costs.
On the 28th March we are delighted to be supporting the New Forest Marque with their first Trade Fair. The event is a rare opportunity to meet New Forest Marque producers as well as taste and view their produce all under one roof.
On Monday you will have the opportunity to sample produce and find out what food is available from who and where this can be purchased day to day.
Local food is about the future, by supporting local farmers today we can help ensure that there will be farms in our community tomorrow and that future generations have nourishing, flavorsome and abundant food. This event is the perfect way for us to encourage others to enjoy this great food.
Join us at our forest retreat, Beaulieu Hotel, from 2pm – 4pm to see for yourself just how good local food really tastes! Everyone is welcome.
