Sybil Leek – The Witch of Burley - Exhibition
Thu 13 October 2011
Our Moorhill House Hotel in Burley is a fitting location for this Halloween exhibition on the infamous witch of Burley, Sybil Leek. The exhibition will be held from 9am-9pm at this village hideaway hotel on Saturday 29th October.
Sybil Leek was hailed as 'Britain’s most famous witch' and had the most incredible life story. Born in 1923, Sybil lived in Burley in the late 1950s. The world's media flocked to her door when she announced she was a white witch. Her legacy lives on in Burley where there are witch craft shops a plenty.
The exhibition will cover Sybil’s life with a special focus on her time here in the New Forest. The display will look at different periods of her life with a timeline illustrating significant events, quotes from her diary, a recording of an interview with her and photographs. There will also be an ‘I spy’ type game for children.
The exhibition is free and everyone is welcome to come along to learn more about this fascinating woman.
We look forward to seeing you there!
