And the winner is...
Tue 30 August 2011
Last week anyone who is anyone to do with food and drink in Hampshire attended the Hampshire Life Food and Drink Awards 2011.
Since the start of the year Hampshire Life readers have been able to vote in ten different categories involving local producers, restaurants, pubs and businesses within the county. Following the short-listing of each category the judges had the hard task of choosing the winners.
Everyone gathered with baited breath at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire as South Today presenter, Sally Taylor, announced the winners of each category. There was healthy banter and cheering from the rival businesses in the room with everyone respecting the hard work and dedication contributed by all towards getting into the final three.
We were proud to be sponsors of the Best Farm Shop category. Our very own Fiona Errington, Group Sales and Marketing Manager, presented the award with Sally and Geoff Morgan, chairman of the New Forest and Hampshire County Show. Newlyns Farm Shop were the proud and very excited winners. They were thrilled that all the hard work of their team had paid off.
Other winners on the night were:
Chef of the Year – David Wykes, Head Chef, Verviene Fishmarket Restaurant
Food Producer of the Year – The Baker Boys.
Restaurant of the Year – Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant
Best local menu – Damien Brown, Executive Chef at the Chesil Rectory.
