Launch of The Drift Inn
Fri 18 February 2011
Last night saw the official launch of the newly refurbished and renamed Drift Inn in the New Forest.
Previously The Beaulieu Road Inn , The Drift Inn played host to over 140 guests who whilst celebrating the launch also raised money for The New Forest Trust.
Situated next door to the Beaulieu Hotel in the heart of the New Forest and opposite the historic Beaulieu Road Pony Sales, the Drift Inn is encouraging people to learn more about life in the forest and the pony drifts, with a permanent photo exhibition by local photographer Barry Whitcher. He was joined at the launch by Head Agister, Jonathan Gerrelli and Rick Manley of The New Forest Trust.
Jonathan shared a number of stories and experiences bringing Barry’s photos to life with his unique and entertaining perspective. Rick, Jonathan and Barry then answered questions from the audience who showed a huge amount of interest in the work of the Agisters and support for the New Forest Trust making donations of over £400.
A penny from every pint sold at The Drift Inn, as well as a percentage of the takings from the regular quiz nights, are also being donated to the Trust. The launch evening provided the opportunity for Michaela Lisle, Managing Director, of New Forest Hotels and The Drift Inn to present Rick Manley with the money raised in December and January, a cheque for £100.80, the first of ongoing donations.
Michaela Lisle said “The evening was a great success, both educational and entertaining and we were delighted to offer guests some real New Forest hospitality and support the important work of the New Forest Trust.”
