Awaken your taste-buds and release your inner wine connoisseur!

Awaken your taste-buds and release your inner wine connoisseur!

Last night 30 guests spent the evening at our award-winning Glasshouse Restaurant learning the art of wine tasting and enjoying the flavours that can be achieved when matching wine with food!

The two rosette contemporary restaurant, located in our Best Western Forest Lodge hotel, was the setting for the evening of fine food and wine. Guests enjoyed 5 New World wines accompanied by a carefully created menu by Head Chef, David Palmer. Our sommelier guided everyone through the delicious wines while they indulged in the modern cuisine of a whipped New Forest Goat’s cheese starter, a main course of a braised shoulder of Wessex lamb and a herb roast cutlet followed by a dark chocolate marquise. The food was expertly matched with a selection of red and white wines.

The evening had a lovely feel to it, all in a relaxed atmosphere, with our sommelier talking the guests through the wine and then visiting each table to explain more about the best way to enjoy the bouquet and flavours.

Everyone left at the end of the evening ‘well oiled’ and keen to come back again. Dennis, a local Lyndhurst resident commented “What a great evening, everyone was so hospitable an d we thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the wine – we can't wait for the next one?”

Come back to our news pages soon to find out when and where our next wine tasting evening will be – after the success of this event – tickets are going to be hard to get!!
