Before dining in the Burley Restaurant at Moorhill House Hotel, have a drink in our wood-panelled bar or relax with friends in front of the fire in the lounge with its wide windows overlooking the woods. In the summer months you can enjoy a cool drink on the lawns while watching the final croquet game of the day.
Our head chef at Moorhill, Ben Cartwright, enjoys using the local Burley cider in a number of his dishes, all of which come highly recommended. If you like what you taste why not stop at the cider factory and purchase some to take home and cook with (or drink!) yourself. Ben is also known for his food demonstrations and recently had a guest slot at the New Forest Marque food exhibition where he cooked live at the New Forest Show. There he showed how to cook ‘Goats cheese to please’ with various different recipes. The audience were wowed with different flavour combination ideas for cooking with goats cheese which Ben had created from ‘Goats cheese with rhubarb puree’ to ‘Goats cheese mouse with lemon crème fraiche’.
After sampling the savory dishes in the Burley restaurant such as Slow Roasted Hampshire Pork Belly with Bramley apple purée, fondant potato, and Burley cider sauce, you may struggle to fit in dessert. However, Ben specializes in all things sweet so make sure you leave room for pudding.
