Christmas Breaks UK

Christmas

Picture this: a frosted forest playground glistening with a sprinkling of snow, twinkling candlelit lounges warming the evening air – and a myriad of feasts to fuel festive appetites.
This isn’t a scene from a Yuletide movie – this is Christmas at New Forest Collection. We celebrate the season in style, with well-stocked cellars, the halls suitably decked with boughs of holly – and the kitchen brigades prepped and primed with many a mouthwatering menu.

If we’re lucky, the ground is blanketed with snow and the New Forest National Park becomes an enchanted wonderland, populated with the charming New Forest ponies prancing playfully. Explore the magic of the area by day and settle into an evening of hearty meals and sweet treats. Find a spot to curl up and get cosy and enjoy the colder times of the year snuggled up in the warm for a truly magical New Forest Christmas break.

Children are welcome across every hotel in the collection (except Burley Manor), and we have dog friendly options too – when you book, we’ll just need everyone’s names – small people and pets!

Festive Dining

The New Forest and New Forest Collection is home to a variety of fantastic restaurants and pubs. Whether you’re rolling out of bed and just downstairs to your hotel breakfast at Forest Lodge or enjoying a traditional Sunday lunch at The Drift Country Pub, you’ll find plenty of hearty options on the menus to help make your Christmas break in the New Forest as indulgent and relaxed as possible.

Make merry at the Manor

Burley

Now we’re obviously biased, but we think Burley Manor takes some beating when it comes to Christmas breaks in the New Forest. Set in an 800-year-old estate, it embodies and epitomises all that is wonderful about the New Forest in winter – frosty mornings, roaring log fires, great food, drink – and great company.

Arriving on Christmas Eve, and after settling in and unpacking, you can truly sit back and start to relax. During the late afternoon, join us in the bar for a glass of mulled wine to celebrate. The first night is left open for you to plan, but we recommend reserving a table if you would like dinner with us.

The next morning – it’s ‘Christmaaaaaas’!! After you’ve opened at least a few pressies (we assume you were on the nice list), you can tuck into a full English or Continental breakfast. The rest of the morning can be spent opening more gifts, chilling out or enjoying the country air, sights and sounds, before you return for a traditional Christmas dinner. Take the afternoon to play some board games, read that new book you’ve just been given – and of course catch the King’s Speech. Boxing Day is the chance to unwind with more great food, country walks and ‘me time’. Enjoy another hearty winter’s breakfast before taking your wellies (and waggy tails if you’ve brought furry friends) around the forest. If you’d rather stay at the hotel and relax, or explore the countryside on your own, that’s fine.

Whatever you do, make sure you reserve a table for dinner. The 27th is time to head home and sadly bid adieu to Burley… but if you’re not quite ready for that, not a problem – leave the bags unpacked and spend the day exploring the 350 square miles of the fantastic New Forest.

Season’s greetings at Beaulieu

Beaulieu

When your home is a picture postcard village, and the historic home of the Montagu family (and its famous motor museum) is close by, Beaulieu Inn has an enviable position. It also happens to be the perfect Christmas escape for grown-ups and children alike – a forest playground on your doorstep, with ponies and cattle roaming past your window, it’s a magical setting. Perfect for cheap Christmas breaks.

Your seasonal stay with us begins on Christmas Eve – either before or after you’ve unpacked! After an afternoon of exploring or relaxing, there are cocktails and canapés to enjoy before a locally sourced dinner and mince pies, prepared expertly by our kitchen brigade. Hang up your stocking, and then join us for a nightcap before you head to bed and await Santa’s arrival…
